Can it really be true?
After countless man hours taking photos, inputting data, scouring the endless internet for the best resources, good ideas and bad ones, frustration, elation, setbacks, bugs, thousands of emails and close to as many glasses of wine . . . EUREKA! I give you VineandTable.com! What a learning experience this has been. I never could have fathomed how much work this build would be in the beginning, but could not be more proud of the finished product. Granted, there will still be some fine tuning, and we want all of you to be an integral part of this process. Tell us what you think. Let us know what features you enjoy, which ones you aren't as big of a fan of, or things your would like to see in the future. The whole purpose of this phenomenal undertaking is to give you the finest online experience in food and wine possible, and as any of you who have visited our store knows, our relationship with our customers is extremely important to us. We pride ourselves on being a service-driven operation, and we extend that philosophy to our online storefront.
So then, allow me to formally introduce myself. My name is Louis Calli, and I am the director of wine for Vine & Table gourmet market in Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as VineandTable.com. I have been involved in the wine industry for over 10 years. I have built numerous wine lists for fine dining restaurants, both independently-owned and hotel-based. By some divine provenance, I have been lucky enough in my career to work with some world class chefs, each of whom taught me something different and wonderful about the culture of this industry. There is nothing I am more passionate about than wine. As my mother always told me, "You have a great palate, and a big mouth", thus the wine industry was a natural career choice. I have been with Vine & Table since the beginning and can barely contain my excitement when I think about what the future holds.
Well, what exactly is this whole "Blog" thing about?
Simply put, this will be my online wine journal. Sometimes, I will share a great dining and/or tasting experience I have had recently. Other times, I may feel the need to voice my opinion about current goings-on in the wine industry. Maybe I will just feel like venting, who knows! No matter what I put here it will not be static. I want this to be a dynamic, thought-provoking round table and not just a marquee for my tasting notes. I want you to get involved in the discussions. I want to know what you think, how you feel. This will be a great opportunity to learn from each others' experiences and maybe even have a few laughs.
