I am delighted to bring you great news; Glendronach single Malt Scotch is back. Glendronach disappeared for a couple of years, but in August 2008 was bought by the independent Benriach Distillery.
Glendronach is a whisky for fans of the big rich sherried malts like The Macallan, Balvenie and Dalmore. The three expressions currently available include the 12-Year-Old ‘Original’, 15 Year Old ‘Revival’, along with the 18 Year Old ‘Allardice’ named in honor of Glendronach’s founder.
From it’s home in the Scottish Highlands, the Glendronach Distillery has been creating the finest richly sherried single malts for nearly 200 years. Founded in 1826 by the legendary James Allardice, GlenDronach was one of the very first licensed distilleries in Scotland. Arguably one of the most unspoiled distilleries in Scotland, they are using the same production processes today as they did in 1826.
Benriach’s Billy Walker has re-introduced old fashioned methods including long fermentation periods which although time consuming make for as richly a sherried whisky now as it did 200 years ago.
It is safe to say that this giant has woken!
