You may not have heard of the Kiuchi Brewery, but you may be familiar with their products. Kiuchi Brewery, Ibaraki, Japan, was founded by the Kiuchi family and still remains a family business to this day. Their popular brand of beers called, “Hitachino Nest Beers,” are a popular brew at most sushi bars.
They are most widely recognized by the distinctive and unique “Owl” character on the label. The main product of the Kiuchi Brewery isn’t beer, though, it’s sake! Unlike most Asian brews, Hitachino Nest Beers are all ales-style brews. They have 9 brews in total. One, of which, is matured in sake casks for 3 months! These unique beers go great with sushi, udon noodle bowls, or beef teriyaki, but also taste great by themselves!
