Beer-B-Q!!!

Barbecue and Beer

Fill up the propane, light up the charcoal, and keep the fire extinguisher handy because it’s BBQ SEASON!!! Although there’s great debate about charcoal versus gas grills and beef versus pork barbecue, one thing can be agreed upon by all barbecuers: Beer is the drink of choice! Face it wine lovers, nothing cools you down while you’re standing in front of the burning inferno quite like a ‘brew-ski’! And have you ever tried to balance your chardonnay glass on a picnic table or in the grass next to your lawn chair? It’s impossible!

Besides being cold and refreshing, beer pairs just as well with food as wine does! There are a myriad of different styles and flavors of beers out in the craft-beer community that range from light to heavy, bitter to malty, and lime to coffee flavored. Here are a few of our beer and BBQ pairings for some classic grilling favorites!

with Carne Asada or Grilled Fish Tacos:
Blue Moon ‘Rising Moon’
Just like squeezing a fresh lime wedge over your taco, Blue Moon’s
‘Rising Moon’ seasonal beer is just what you need to amp-up any
south-of-the-border grilled food! It has been brewed with the addition
of Kaffir lime leaves and has a light, zesty kick.

with BBQ Ribs and Pulled Pork:
Victory Prima Pils
If you are going to lather on the sweet and tangy barbecue sauce
on your pulled pork or BBQ ribs, you’re going to need this light and
crisp pilsner to shine through that sticky sauce!

with Grilled Steaks and Chicken:
North Coast Red Seal Ale
This wonderfully balance, yet full-bodied pale ale, is the perfect accompaniment
for simply grilled meats. It’s the perfect marriage of
hops and malt that will stand up to the flavor of the grill, but allow
the meat to be the star of the show.

with Grilled Italian Sausages and Bratwurst:
Shiner Bock
Bocks have always been a natural with German-fare, but they work
well with almost any pork sausage. The sweet, maltiness of the
bock beer provides a nice contrast to the salty pork sausage.

with a Grilled Cheeseburger:
Barley Island ‘Dirty Helen’ Brown Ale
A nice, juicy cheeseburger needs a hearty beer to stand up to
all that lusciousness! Brown ales are a not only heavy enough to
match-wits with a big burger, but it is also a perfect match for the
cheddar cheese and other earthy cheese, such as jack and swiss.
