Frei Brothers Reserve Zinfandel 2008

Full Bodied - Red and black currant and bramble berry, spicy notes of black pepper, white pepper, and nutmeg.

Our winemakers crafted this Zinfandel to reflect the pure, expressive flavors found in the Dry Creek Valley, where warm days, cool nights and well-draining soils make this region renowned for its exceptional Zinfandel. The grapes were gently destemmed, but not crushed, to retain a significant amount of whole berries for fermentation. This allowed our winemakers to retain the vibrant red berry flavors of the grapes, while minimizing the extraction of harsh tannins. Prior to fermentation, the grapes were cold soaked at 60F to enhance the extraction of rich color and intense flavors. Fermentation lasted approximately six days at a maximum temperature of 88F. This wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was aged on its lees to enhance the mouthfeel.
